Two questions: First, I've been following this blog since it started and I just realized that I don't think I've ever seen you post a picture of your face? What if you're just a sentient aloe plant that can run a blog? Second, have you finished Lightning Returns yet?
oh no you’ve discovered my true identity :V
Actually you all might be getting a face picture of me soon, once I pull together the last piece of my Serah cosplay for Anime Boston. (Since it’s a cosplay very relevant to this blog’s interests, after all)
As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, I’ve mainly been watching textsfromevangelion play Lightning Returns because I’m super lame and the only current-gen video game system I have is a 3DS. But she finished the game a couple of days ago which was a very exciting experience.
It's true, it's true. And now I can never disassociate Lighting astride Odin from "Always", and there goes a little more of XIII's dignity. Whatever bit "meow meow choco-chow" left unscathed. ETRO STRIKES AGAIN.
"meow meow choco-chow" is an excellent line, what are you talking about *crosses arms*
Hey there. Never played much FF13 but Lightning is now a canon vodka lover to me. Anyway, I was messaging about that anon asking about vodka. Mostly so I could suggest trying Jolly Rancher vodka. It's the drink I swear by when I'm drinking.
I’ve never had that kind before but it sounds delicious!
The vodka brands I drink most often are UV and Three Olives. They both come in a variety of excellent flavors.
I was trying to explain XIII's summoning system to a friend of mine who has never played an FF game before. She remarked that it's a bit messed up to have one's friends randomly transform into motorcycles, race cars, horses, etc., And then I stopped and thought about it, and yeah, Etro is a WEEEEEEEEIRD goddess. I mean, who just sits there going "HERE DESPAIRING L'CIE, HAVE A DEATHMATCH WITH A MAGICAL TRANSFORMER!"
also Odin is pretty much Robot Unicorn Attack except with fewer sparkles and rainbows
At least FFXIII is one of the FF games that gives an explanation to summons, unlike in something like FFVII in which everyone has the ability to inexplicably summon the Knights of the Round Table.
I saw the question for FXIII's sequels and wanted to ask about FX's sequel since the HD is just about to come out. (And because I've never played or seen X-2 and X is my childhood game.) What is your opinion on X and X-2's sequel/story?
I will unashamedly admit that I greatly enjoy X-2. The story is very silly at times, and it’s best to kind of view it as some kind of wacky continuation fanfic and not take it too seriously. The gameplay is really great, though, and the FFXIII series actually borrows from it in the sense of being able to change class mid-battle. I’d say the most obnoxious thing about X-2 in terms of gameplay is that getting 100% in a single playthrough has some absolutely ridiculous requirements, and some the sidequests can be really tedious.
Basically X-2 is a fun experience if you remember not to take it too seriously. Having someone to laugh along with you during the silly moments helps as well. I still greatly prefer FFX, of course, but that’s also my first and favorite FF game so it would be pretty hard to top it.
after playing ff13 for the first time i had to stop and restart because i got so bored by chapter 13, i kept comparing it to past final fantasy games but i realized that i needed to stop doing that. my 2nd time around I've started to appreciate it a little more and enjoy playing it now. whats your opinion on the sequels? are they worth it to play through?
Yeah, with the Final Fantasy series it’s best to consider each game as its own entity, otherwise it’s too easy to fall into the trap of “well that’s not how *insert favorite game in the series* did it.”
I think XIII-2 and LR improve a lot on the gameplay in making things less “go from point A to point B killing things along the way” and adding more sidequests (which are an integral part of LR). In terms of story I think the sequels do some things well and some things not-so-well, and how you perceive the plot of the sequels will probably hinge a lot on what you think of XIII’s story. I think XIII-2 and LR are worth playing if you enjoy XIII, at any rate, even though they do have a slightly different feel to them (though not as great as the shift between, say, X and X-2).
Hi! there's a youtuber named ShadowYuri09 whose uploading no-sub cutscenes. so far she's got all of snow and noel's cutscenes and she said she was doing caius next. letting you know cuz you said ya needed them and I don't want my favorite blog to go without!
Ahhhh thanks! Guess I’m going to be screencapping all weekend~
This blog is like a really bad hangover... You know some crazy shit went down and it was probably awkward as fuck and you don't remember it all, but based on the feeling it gives you, you know it was a good idea and you'll probably be back for seconds or millionths or did you know you have over 300 pages worth of stuff I've looked through?
Sadly, Outerworld seems to hate me, because I can't sem to post screencaps anywhere. Maybe on NG+, it will play nice. ALSO, have you witnessed the end of the Wildlands Main Quest, because oh my heart, so many feelings of joy. The Wildlands in general seems to beall about Dem Feels.
Ughhh that’s unfortunate. (meanwhile I still haven’t found unsubbed cutscenes on youtube to screencap orz)
I haven’t seen the end of the Wildlands yet but I did get a lot of feelings from the end of Yusnaan so it’ll be hard to top that. Though considering that a character who I have a lot of feelings about is encountered in the Wildlands, I imagine I won’t be disappointed.
Is it weird that I want to use Lightning's default as her main outfit on my first playthrough? The main reason is because I want her to wear it when it comes to the cutscenes plus I just really love the outfit (that collar..) I know its not very powerful but like in FFXIII I used Lightning's Gladius till their fight with Orphan so if I can keep using it till then or even till the very end I'll be happy. After that I can swap anytime and not mind.
Hey, if you love the outfit, by all means keep her in it. It probably makes the game somewhat less nonsensical, as fun as it is to have Lightning casually accepting quests from people in ridiculous outfits.
And at least you can keep two other powerful garbs in the schema so it’s not a total loss of power.
